Saturday Night and Sunday Moring is a novel by Alan Sillitoe published in 1958 (and in 1975 by Star Book) and an adaptation of the same book to a movie by Tony Richardson in 1960. It’s an old black and white movie.

He is up to something.
I think what is illustrated here are the alcohol-related problem.

The screenshot shows a close-up picture of an old man wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh. Actually, the picture shows a Palestinian Arab inside the Green line (Arabs that stayed in Palestine after 1948). He’s squatting on the ground with his tanned hands clasped before his face and looking somewhere. Behind him, on right hand side, there is a broken tree bough. In the foreground there are a farm buildings.
The old man look as though he was waiting for something to happen. Could he have foreseen what had happened?
The issue raised here is the attachment to one’s roots whatever the cost may be.
